Laser hair reduction uses light energy to target hair follicles and reduce regrowth over a course of sessions. For many people it means less time spent shaving or waxing — and fewer bumps and ingrown hairs.
Why several sessions are needed
Hair grows in cycles, and the laser works best on hair in its active growth phase. That is why treatment is planned as several sessions spaced weeks apart, so each one reaches a new group of follicles.
Is it permanent?
Laser gives long-term reduction for many people, but it is not described as permanent removal. Some regrowth is possible and occasional maintenance sessions may be advised. Results vary with hair colour, skin type and hormonal factors.
What are “strawberry legs”?
Dark, dotted-looking pores on the legs are often linked to shaving and ingrown hair. In her video on the topic, Dr Mitali suggests avoiding tight clothing, old razors, dry shaving and harsh scrubs — and laser hair reduction can also help by reducing the hair that causes the problem.
